Grew up on a tobacco farm in coastal SC. Enrolled at Clemson in 1956 and graduated in 1960. During my four years we played Colorado in the Orange Bowl, LSU in the Sugar Bowl and TCU in the Bluebonnet Bowl. I knew most of the football players and continue to see some of them at games and reunions, including Bill Mathis, Harvey White, etc. Enrolled in graduate school at Western Carolina in 1967 and received MA degree.
