After Clemson, I worked as a structural engineer for 12 years at a shipyard in Virginia until my old Clemson roommate talked me into joining him in the construction industry building Holiday Inns around the country. Eventually ending up in Florida for the building boom resulting from Disney World in the Orlando area and helping a fledging construction company grow into a $200m-300m/year firm.
My blood truly runnith orange as my fondest memories start with going to Clemson as a little tot with my Dad (1920 grad who starred in track and was captain of swimming team) to attend reunions and football games including 12 straight Big Thursday games starting in 1945. Having my fiancée (present wife) enjoy the wonderful hospitality of the Holtzys’ home for dance weekends and all the other great college experiences that come with being a Clemson student.
Besides my father, other family members holding Clemson degrees include my brother (EE49), a son and a daughter, two first cousins, two nieces and a nephew and a daughter in law.
Biggest regret is never living close enough to Clemson to be a regular attendee at sporting events there even though I do lead a family caravan there at least once a year to a football game.
