2019 Dorman (S.C.) offensive guard Mason Trotter was announced as a signee by Clemson on Wednesday.

Trotter picked Clemson, as a grayshirt candidate, over offers from Louisville, where he visited on Jan. 25, as well as Syracuse, Appalachian State and Coastal Carolina.

"He turned down Louisville and several other Division I offers to basically walk-on at Clemson this year," Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said Wednesday. "At some point he'll get a scholarship. Really excited to add Mason to this class...You get one from Dorman...You know exactly what you're getting. You're getting a guy who can play. Well-coached and developed. Really excited about Mason and feel he has a great future in front of him.

"Going to be one of those guys like Adam Humphries, who we signed in that class and everyone was like, 'Who the heck is Adam Humphries.' And he turned out alright. Mason Trotter is going to be a good one for us."

He visited Clemson officially on Jan. 18.

Trotter was a Shrine Bowl selection. He joins former Dorman teammate Jordan McFadden on the Clemson O-line.
