"One of the better athletes we've seen in years," said Shafer in an in-house Syracuse video. "You can't miss him."

He also talked about how well Beasley defends the zone read play with spread offenses.

"With offenses moving to a lot of zone read family, you put the onus either on the end or an outside linebacker to basically play the quarterback. And you have a decision to make. Are you going to let him play the quarterback or let him dive down in tight to play the dive?"

"He's the only kid I've seen in years that actually plays both at times, where he takes away the dive part of it and then plants his foot and then rallies to the quarterback for no gain or a tackle for loss."

Shafer even thinks that Beasley is fast enough to probably play wide receiver.

"He's athletic enough to probably play anywhere on the field. I wouldn't lose sleep if I was coaching him and lined him up at wide receiver."
