is putting his best foot forward to make a roster spot for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Humphries was an undrafted rookie but earned a free agent contract after impressing the Bucs' coaches in a two-day tryout last month.

The former Clemson slot receiver is excited about this current opportunity in the NFL. "It's been a great experience," Humphries told the Tampa Bay Times. "Obviously coming in as a tryout guy, you're the last man on the depth chart, so you bring an edge to practice. No matter where I am on the depth chart, I'm going to work hard every day. I'm just excited to be out there."

Buccaneers' head coach Lovie Smith thinks that Humphries has been very impressive.

"First, I didn't know who he was. I know where he's from now," Smith said. "Good quickness. Smart, good instincts. I think there's about three players I've coached in my career that started from tryouts, without a contract, walking in and proving they deserve a contract, proving they belong in camp, then ending up playing. He's done everything we've asked him to do."

Humphries had 127 receptions for 1,097 yards and three touchdowns during his college career.
