Auburn DB out indefinitely with knee injury

by - Assoc. Editor -

Auburn defensive back Jamel Dean will be out indefinitely with a knee injury announced on Saturday morning by Auburn coach Guz Malzahn.

“He’s going to require surgery, he's going to be out for an extended period of time,” Malzahn said via al.com. “He was doing great. It was very unfortunate. A fine young man right there.”

Dean had suffered two previous knee injuries at Cocoa High School in Florida. He played one semester at Ohio State before transferring to Auburn after being medically disqualified by team doctors from the Buckeyes.

The injury is another blow to Auburn's defense as Dean was one of the standouts in fall practice and was battling for one of the starting spots at cornerback.
