Chad Morris the favorite to land Ole Miss job |
Former Clemson offensive coordinator
Chad Morris, now the head coach at SMU, is the odds on favorite to take over at Ole Miss following the resignation of former head coach Hugh Freeze a few days ago.
The Ole Miss program is embroiled in a cloud of controversy - the Rebels are looking at potential NCAA penalties following the discovery of impermissible benefits to players, a lawsuit from former head coach Houston Nutt and the revelations a few days ago that Freeze had "inappropriate conduct." BetOnline.ag has odds on 16 potential coaches for Ole Miss, with Morris as the favorite at +300. Other notable names are Les Miles (+800) Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables (+1200) and Louisville head coach Bobby Petrino (+2500). Morris is 7-17 in two seasons with the Mustangs, but Morris is known as the coach that brought Deshaun Watson to Clemson. Morris is the architect behind Clemson’s offense, now run by co-offensive coordinators Jeff Scott and Tony Elliott, and had a hand in recruiting the 2015 and 2016 Tigers national championship teams.
