Isaiah Simmons was recently named the Butkus Award winner as the nation's top linebacker.

For the season, he has a team-leading 91 tackles, seven sacks, two interceptions, and five quarterback hurries.

Simmons talked to ESPN about his background in track growing up and how it relates to his impressive physicality now on the gridiron.

"Just doing track growing up, it gave me all the abilities that I have like my explosiveness, my quickness, and just power," he said. "I am a firm believer that track is the reason that I was able to become the athlete that I am."
