Swinney on team's mindset after Sugar Bowl loss

by - Assoc. Editor -

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney spoke with the media on Tuesday at his annual golf media tournament.

Swinney was asked about the team's motivation and mindset going into the season after the 24-6 loss to Alabama in the 2018 Sugar Bowl.

"Nah, that’s in the rearview mirror," he said. "We’re just trying to beat Furman. That’s really it. We move on from all that stuff and learn from it. That was disappointing at the time, but a lot of those guys on that team are not here anymore. A lot of them have moved on. It’s a new team. New challenges and accept the challenge of a new season. New journey."

Like every year, Swinney, his coaching staff, and players will try to take the approach of taking it one game at a time.

Clemson opens up with SoCon opponent Furman inside Death Valley on September 1.
