RG3 wants to help Deshaun Watson, Texans |
Former Heisman Trophy Award winner Robert Griffin III was last seen in the NFL during the 2016 season as he was released by the lowly Cleveland Browns in March.
Currently, 'RG3' is not on a NFL roster but thinks that he can bring a lot to the proverbial table to the Houston Texans and help mentor young franchise quarterback Deshaun Watson. "Deshaun's an incredible player with a really bright future," Griffin said via the Houston Chronicle. "I feel like I could help him after my experiences with Washington and Cleveland. I feel like I could help the team. I know a lot of their guys. I think I can do a lot of things they've been doing offensively. Texas is home, and I've always got a soft spot in my heart for Texas." Griffin is just waiting for another chance in the NFL. "I'm training and making sure I stay sharp," he said. "I'm not only staying in shape, but I'm working to get better in the film room, too. When my number's called, I'll be ready." For his NFL career, the 27-year old has passed for 8,983 yards with 42 touchdowns and 26 interceptions. The Texans currently have Tom Savage starting at quarterback with T.J. Yates and Josh Johnson as backups on the team.
