Petrino on Trevor Lawrence: "He can really zip it"

by - Assoc. Editor -

Louisville coach Bobby Petrino held his weekly press conference Monday and talked about the multiple challenges his team faces against No. 2 ranked Clemson on Saturday.

"Play a really good football team this Saturday," he said. "We put the video on them and they have as good as defense as there is out there. The defensive front, linebackers are big and physical and fast. A lot of the same guys we played against for the last couple of years so we know them really well. In the secondary, they got good corners and both their safeties can both play the run and play man coverage. That's always a good challenge for ya."

Petrino has been impressed with freshman signal-caller Trevor Lawrence.

"Offensively, I think their quarterback is doing a really nice job for them," he said. "They have had some games they relied on the run and the offensive line has blocked the front. The running backs are fast and last week they came out and threw the ball. He can really zip it. He can spin the ball. He has a really good wrist and can get the ball down the field to some of his targets. It's a great challenge for us. We have to get back on the practice field and work to get better."

Louisville will have an extremely tough challenge against the Tigers but the veterans will likely show up and be prideful because nobody wants to be a 38-point underdog. It is the largest point spread in an ACC game since FSU was a 45 point favorite against Duke in 2002.
