Clemson forward to miss game against UNC

Clemson’s chances to knock off No. 17 North Carolina Tuesday night took a big hit when we were told that graduate forward Mark Donnal will miss the game.

Donnal suffered a head injury in the final moments of Clemson’s 72-70 win over Georgia Tech Saturday night in Atlanta.

Clemson head coach Brad Brownell said on Monday that Donnal would go into the concussion protocol after the injury.

"Mark took a shot to the head late in the game I think there at the end," Brownell said on the ACC basketball teleconference. "I think he's going to go under concussion protocol today and take a look and see. We probably won't know until later today (Monday) if he will be available or not. We'll find that out later."

Because of the 47-hour turnaround between games, Donnal won’t be cleared to play, putting more pressure on junior forward Elijah Thomas to stay out of foul trouble.

The Michigan transfer is averaging 3.8 points and 1.9 rebounds in just under 13 minutes per game.
