CFB analyst thinks Clemson has easiest path left to playoff |
The No. 4 ranked Clemson football team just finished up a hard-fought 38-31 road victory over North Carolina State to put them up in the ACC Atlantic division with only one conference game remaining.
Yahoo Sports columnist Pat Forde thinks that Clemson has the easiest path left to make the college football playoff. "The 8-1 Tigers’ remaining regular-season games are hugely disappointing: Florida State at home, Citadel at home and at rival South Carolina," Forde said. "Then there is a likely Atlantic Coast Conference title game matchup with Miami in Charlotte, which would be a de facto Clemson home game. While that last game could be a tussle, Clemson is the only member of the 10 who does not have at least one regular-season game left against a team currently in the Sagarin top 30." Auburn was listed as having the hardest schedule left to make the playoff with two possible games against Georgia (regular season, SEC championship) and a rivalry game versus Alabama. If they win out, they would have an impressive resume with just a loss to Clemson and LSU. Will this happen? Probably not. The two teams that he listed as capable of taking a loss and still making it in the playoff were SEC teams: Georgia and Alabama.
