Nicolas Peck, the Tiger Band announcer for 29 years at football games and coined the phrase," The Song that Shakes the Southland" for the popular song "Tiger Rag" has passed away.

The Clemson University Tiger Band released the following statement via Facebook on Saturday night.

The Tiger Band family mourns the loss of Nick Peck, long time announcer for the Band. Mr. Peck coined the phrase “the song that shakes the southland” referring to “Tiger Rag,” which has been a Clemson tradition for some forty years. Nick retired from announcing in 1989. We send our condolences to all his family and friends.
