It indicates it could drop to that at anytime and looks like the buyout is not going up any.
Why are some on here so upset if after a couple of mediocre years or less than that,Coach Brownell could be let go or resign, with new job and the buyout is not going to be higher that what it was beforehand?

Right here. It's not going to have to give him a huge buyout at anytime the AD says that is enough. Two very bad years in a roll and this is what will happen or so. Link:

Thats not about his buyout if Clemson terminates him. Its about his buyout if HE resigns. This basically means when he is ready to stop coaching he gets a fundraising job.
Should Employee terminate employment as Head Coach prior to the end of this agreement Employee has the has the option to step down as Head Coach and become “Special Assistant/Advisor to the Athletic Director” for the remainder of the term of this agreement for a period not to exceed four years at an annual salary of $250,000. He must exercise this option by April 15th of each year. His role as “Special Assistant to the AD” shall include assisting Clemson University (including IPTAY) with fundraising and revenue generating opportunities, while also assisting as an advisor to the Director of Athletics.

No Discussion about lack of Championships🤔 Guess That's Not A Goal for Clemson Men's Bball Team😣 Brownell might be A Good Administrator but Sure IS Not A Champion's Coach...I am Still Correct 10 Years After We Should have dismissed Brownell

why discuss what you can't do? The last 2 years and 2 of our best rosters ever with nothing to show for it. The McNeese thing this year is an all time low. In this era where you never know who will stay I'm tuning out

Because you don’t waste money unnecessarily. If Brad wants a lifetime relationship with Clemson and vice versa, without actually winning anything meritorious, you don’t pay him like a top coach. Most of the people that support Brad would rail against this kind of wastefulness in any other aspect of society. It’s that naked hypocrisy that burns me up.

Yes you are! I'm not sure if Neff should be in politics or a Salsa instructor! I'm sick of the spinning, call a spade a spade! Dude CHOKES constantly. Clemson deserves better! Should've been gone 10 years ago, as you stated. That was a horrible waste of talent and we got the same response from the manikin, "...I let the guys down..."! He left out... "AGAIN and AGAIN!" Indiana dodged a bullet to the brain!

No other program would have tolerated, much less continuously rewarded, his absolute mediocrity for 15 years like we have. Where else is he going to get paid as well as he does with absolutely no expectations whatsoever?

So, positives for portal - but no negatives for why he had to use it.

When 9 that he recruited leave (not all transferred, but most) - why is he given accolades for doing well in portal, when he is the main cause for needing it? Weaknesses- high school talent analysis, high school recruiting, developing talent, retaining talent. Yep, he is good renting other teams players that are not Clemson Men.
Thank god we extended him - mediocrity would not be the same without him.

Brilliant move by Neff, entrenching an apathetic fanbase for 6 more years

No risk of high expectations removes all pressure to succeed which takes the stress off of Neff to have to worry about basketball for the next half decade. Genius!

Doesn't seem to me like Brad has any intention of living out this contract. Otherwise why would it be such an important component to him?

1) The delayed announcement speaks volumes. 2) Brownell is a close friend and mentor to Neff. 3) No other quality universities are interested in hiring Brownell.
Spin away.

Need to replace Neff, but it will never happen. Clemson MARRIES it's coaches and AD'S.
