Love that Riley has brought in some more of his own staff and Allen is doing the same.

I saw the same thing. Must be working from home to be an unpaid volunteer. 🫤

Houston accepted an unpaid position.

Not sure why unless there is potential for it to become paid. Or he wants to learn some of Dabo's philosophy...

Love the fact he knows the area so well. Help keep that pipeline of defensive players from north Carolina flowing. He should be a big help to Ben, and with recruiting. And being a coot killer never hurts. Cool that he won a natty the same year we did.
Hopefully junior day will produce an epic haul of commits. Continue the great news flowing from football.

Remember when Dabo knew he had a special staff , offensively and felt that a defensive staff to match that would get him to that next level. Then he hired a guy and we went on to the top ? This is feeling like that . To me.

I really like Houston for several reasons. 1. By all accounts, he is a good guy. 2. He REALLY elevated LR when he was here in Hickory. 3. His Citadel team beat the Chickens.
I don't know what happened at ECU, but I think this is a great add.

Lots of people have been complaining the we had coaching problems. Seems like Dabo is aiming to make doubly sure coaching is not the problem going forward.

Mike Houston was the HC at TC Roberson High school here in Asheville, NC in the late 90s/ early 2000s when my 4 kids weee in school there. He had a 13-1 record in 2004, losing to eventual state champ, and then powerhouse Shelby Crest, in the western regionals.
He was my boys weightlifting coach as well. I ran into him at the high school ring of gold induction ceremony that I attended three years ago as my boys high school soccer coach was inducted into the Hall of Fame at the high school. I spoke with Mike for about 15 minutes….he is a class act and he was when my boys had him as a weightlifting coach and also I think two of my kids had him as a biology teacher.

From my ECU buddies, including some friends whose kid played for him:
The Good: Everyone at ECU loved Houston.
The Bad: Generally, the players didn't think he was a brilliant mind at all. They said he just didn't seem that smart with schemes or the technical aspects of the game.
The Ugly: He crushed his players at practice, to the point where a lot of them got hurt. It was kind of a thing.

do you remember whatJoe Bostic said about Danny Ford? The players looked forward to playing games on Saturdays as they were half as tough as practice!

Is it just me or is Dabo behaving like another certain Executive, shaking up the status quo, being unpredictable and interpreting the rules in a unique, unexpected way? Four dementional coaching.
