Wes Goodwin if you look at this message board, I want you to know that IMO, you're not in any way shape or form a top 50 DC in today's college FB. If Dabo Swinney loves our FB program the way that he says he does, you should be shown the exit door no later than next Friday bc it will happen sooner or later. In my honest opinion for the sake of the players, the team, and the fan base, you have more than enough to prove that you don't have the experience to be the DC at Clemson, a program that has proven to be capable of playing in the college FB national championship on consistent basis, but Clemson will never make it that far up the ladder again with you as the DC, and I'm sure that you have proven that to yourself over these past two seasons without the a full roster of the Brent Venables players.
Hey, thanks for giving the job all that you had to give, but right now you just don't have the amount of experience needed to take the Clemson defense back to the top where BV had it when he left to become the HC at Oklahoma. Again, thanks for giving your best, but at this point and time with very little experience coaching at the college level at a program that is capable of being at the very top. To be very honest you're about 10-12 years short of experience working on the field with a top DC day in and day out.
I do wish you the best at your next job wherever or whoever it's with, and if you want to be a successful DC, don't accept anymore office jobs bc it's the on the field coaching experience that you lack of the most, good luck to you...

How in the f#*? Do we rush 2 (as in two, deuce, one fewer than three) defensive linemen on third and nine? I wouldn’t let Wes on the dang airplane to GSP!!! If I knew where he lived I would put for sale signs in front of his dang house.

There were a lot of incriminating photos from the field last night including the garbage truck size hole the Longhorns RB went through for a TD untouched… should be incriminating enough

Look, we had 1 guy, Carter, on the 1st Team All ACC Defensive team and 2 guys on the 2nd so how long has it been since that happened? We do not have the talent we need to win in the Playoffs and have got to get better on defense and recruiting is the only way to do that.

Issues with fundamentals, getting off blocks? Pretty late in the season to have issues with these. Texas had right at 300 yards rushing, 300 HUNDRED YARDS. Absolute no excuse in this. There is a lot more than fundamentals issues and don’t think it’s all on the players. Might be best to keep Goodwin as a stat guy but find his replacement as DC. Remember, almost 300 YARDS RUSHING.

You don't keep him around at any job. You move him out and let him find his niche some where else. This is not a self help program for recovering coaches who failed to produce.

Yes, and I truly do above all hate saying that I said so at the beginning, but I did say from day one when Wes was "Given the DC" job that he didn't have a 10th of the on the field coaching experience needed to be the DC even at a High School much less a power FB program that Clemson surely is. I have to believe that Dabo first thought that Wes Goodwin would make up for on the field experience with his smarts. Maybe it's bc I'm much older than Dabo and Goodwin, and I've been in management a few times during my lifetime, but I knew that Dabo's generosity to Goodwin was going to fail miserably bc I've learned during my life that hands on experience cannot be substituted with just brain smarts, and when it's been tried, most of the time it turns into brainfarts...

If Wes is the best DC available, keep him. I don't think he is by a long shot. Clemson was gashed all year long.
No team feared our defense. It's time to get a vocal DC with experience to motivate our guys. It's time to have a passionate DC to restore a nasty edge to our D. I seriously doubt Wes is a recruiting dynamo either.
Cade and the offense played well enough to beat TX, despite having to resort to Randall and Adams at RB. It's amazing how well Cade played with a one dimensional offense.
The defense was terrible. Some of that is due to TX being very talented in the running game, but a lot of it is on the defense. We couldn't even stop The Citadel. It was amazing to see several times, 2 guys in pass rush. Any decent QB with time will find an open receiver. That was on Wes.
It's time to end what was a very novel experiment.

The talent is there across the board. One of the top 5 most talented rosters in the nation. Depth at LB and D end and coaching is the problem. Defensive fundamentals were not taught. Wes needs to be replaced.

Agree I look at Barrett Carter as proof… he had the potential under BV to be one of the best we’ve had at Clemson. Yet if we are truthful with ourselves he hasn’t improved any in the last three years possibly even regressed. Same thing with Woodaz… physically heavier but has his skills really progressed greatly. That’s coaching pure and simple. But you got someone coaching and calling defensive plays that has never played a down of football at any level. Who has the intensity level of a sleeping newborn baby. Simply put …. It ain’t working!

It’s kind of funny how we have all the answers for our defensive woes in our post game analysis. Our issues have virtually been the same all year so it’s not surprising we’d have all the answers after 14 games. My question is, why can’t we have the answers during our pregame planning and our in game adjustments? Just so frustrating to hear the same thing week to week and virtually no improvement to go with it.
