No mention of the real problem

Money has not been taken out of the current recruiting system, which we have a large disadvantage in against the larger blue bloods. The cap will only cause existing funds to be re-directed to NIL, monitored or not. So the big problem remains. We need more $$$ to go after required talent if Championships are the goal.

Everyone understands we need more NIL money. However, the university is not allowed to direct funds themselves. They must get funds from individuals or businesses or organizations that are allowed to pay for NIL. An anonymous donor has promised $3 million if it is matched. That is the reality. People must be willing to give money to Clemson to be used for NIL.

As for the market value, I don’t know how you regulate that. What is fair value? I like the idea of a cap on NIL payments, but that would not be fair market value.

The NFL regulates what is paid to rookies when they are drafted. It does not regulate what they are paid in their next contract. That contract is where the big money is made (e.g., Trevor Lawrence’s contract). The NFL has a salary cap of $255.4 million in 2024, not counting an allowance for player benefits. Maybe there is a way to place a cap on both revenue sharing and NIL. Again, I just don’t know because fair means different things to different people..

I understand what you're saying, but the facts are and will always be that the most talented players will always cost the most cash if a program wants them bad enough, they will have to shell out the bigger bucks to lock them into your program. The best thing about the shared revenue and the nil is that it all will be monitored and if a program gets caught trying to ghost the numbers, they will have to pay a price for cheating. Personally, I would hope the price for cheating with numbers would the HC being immediately fired!!!

Tnet, Your embedded videos stink. They always stop when watching. Been that way forever.
