Spring is in the Air. Clemson is in bloom!

What did it mean for me (a student during the 1980's)?

1) Trying to catch some rays on beautiful sunny days on the ledge of Johnstone (E-6) or the Y-Beach even when it was still a bit chilly out there. And someone was always ranking the girls as they passed by with poster cards labeled 1-10.

2) Spending a sunny afternoon . . . inside at Tiger Town Tavern communing with the orange carpeted walls, the 25 cents pitchers of beer(beer was ALL they served), doing your best to win at quarters, and keeping tabs on who came in and out of the front entrance.

3) Rambling over to a smaller version of the Clemson (unnamed) baseball stadium to hang out and then watching a beautiful sunset and seeing Coach Wilhelm win us another game on the road to the way to another ACC title.

4) Meeting up with Danny Ford dressed up in a suit in the old univerity laundry across from Johnstone and someone one asking about the team. "We got a bunch of youngsters who need to get better before we open up with Georgia this fall." Of course, we'd win the ACC that fall.

5) Going to the old Mexican resturant Los Hermanos, or Strawberries, or College Station, or Crazy Zacks and drinking down a whole bunch of fruity-tuity drinks. Oh, Yeah!

6) Just being in Clemson!

Man, can I find a Hot Tub Time Machine and Go back?

the 80's Clemson at this time of year. Spring of '85 was that last one I got to experience before it was time to move over and give way to the new lucky few.
