Gamecock Pranks

Jan 17, 2005, 10:45 PM

Sorry for the the post earlier. I really didn't mean to open up a can of worms. So for a topic to bring us all together. What is your best prank on a gamecock friend. Mine would have to be sneaking in to a coot friends house the week after 27-20. I plastered pictures that and previous games with them on his wall (esp. Rod Gardener). then put a cd with Tiger Rag on it in his stereo and turned it all the way up. It was about 6:30 in the morning too.

When you bet a coot friend that he has to wear all orange to the next years game if Clemson wins. And we know that that happens a lot!!

I guess it doesn't really count as a prank, but a guy at my church is a Clemson man and the preacher is a Gamecock. (I know, sacreligious!) Anyway, they have a running bet every year--the day after the game, if Carolina wins, Jeremy has to wear a Gamecock tie, and if (when) Clemson wins, the preacher actually preaches his sermon in a bright orange tie. So far it's been quite amusing. :)

He probably actually likes wearing that tie***

Some gamecock fans wanted to debate me and point out the fallacy of of putting out such a harmful website. Others were Clemson fans egging me on. I had a couple of media inquiries for interviews and the expected "watch your back, you could get hurt" emails.

My friend had tickets to the game...a coot..., I did not have tickets. She was one that ran her mouth all the time and didn't know a field goal from a touch down. Well, she has plans to leave Columbia and go on a mini vacation. So after the game,,,,of course Clemson wins, several of us went to her house, put a huge sign on the front lawn.....I LOVE MY TIGERS.....have orange crepe paper hanging from every tree in the yard, tigerpaws everywhere, spray paint huge tigerpaws on the driveway (believe me this was not enough for this loud mouth).....then send her a telegram at the motel in Columbia and all it says,,,,,you may want to skip the vacation. Of course, we call the newspaper and have the picture on the front page the next day. Her house stays like this for 5 days until she returns. She has been very quiet for the last 15 or so years!

I got accused of one...

Jan 17, 2005, 11:44 PM

13. MALICIOUS INJURY TO PERSONAL PROPERTY, WILLIAMS-BRICE STADIUM, 1000 GEORGE ROGERS BLVD. (off Map) Someone used a fire extinguisher and baby powder to draw a tiger paw on the gamecock at center field and to write the word "Clemson" between the 40- and 50-yard lines. The complainant said someone also used powder to draw a tiger paw in a restroom of the south end zone. The evidence was stored in a locker. Reporting officer: J. Hinson.

Thanks to TrooperDel, I received numerous harassing phone calls...and some mysterious eggings of my apartment.

Back in October 2003 someone took a picture of this incident. Then, a Tigernetter was emailed this picture, and he wanted to post it on Tigernet. He asked for help, and I offered to host it on my Clemson webspace (I was a student at the time). It was then posted on Tigernet, and we all got a good laugh.

...then 'coot logic' reared its ugly head...

TrooperDel saw the picture on Tigernet.
TrooperDel saw the picture was taken in broad daylight.
TrooperDel saw that Westerly77 posted the picture.
TrooperDel saw the URL contained the Clemson userid 'westj'.
TrooperDel searched the Clemson phonebook for 'westj' and found the home address, campus address, and phone number of Westerly77.
TrooperDel posted the previously mentioned information on his website.
TrooperDel encouraged his minions to call and harass Westerly77.
TrooperDel's minions obeyed.

Westerly77 had callerID.

It really boggles my mind (I know it shouldn't) that he could come to the conclusion that I did this!

If I had done this...why would I:
A. Take a picture of the incident in daylight.
B. Post it on my Clemson webspace.
C. Post it on Tigernet.
...and most importantly...
D. Be in Columbia during a Clemson home football game weekend!

incident to happen with a coot... the famous bus story.

I planted a Tiger Paw of rye grass in my coot friends yard..

Jan 18, 2005, 10:19 AM

I briefly thought about doing a Tiger Paw with Roundup but I kinda like the guy and couldn't bring my self to do it. Instead, I snuck out in the middle of the night and outlined a 20' wide tiger paw in his front yard with string and then poured a bunch of rye grass seed in the inside. Three weeks later, after his bermuda went dormant and turned yellow, a bright green tiger paw appeared. It was a thing of beauty. Of course it wasn't permanent but it was still pretty good.
