Today is the 17th Anniversary of Kurt Cobain's death..

Apr 5, 2011, 11:35 AM

So put on on a flannel shirt, turn off the Lil Wayne, and respect a musician who actually had an impact on a musical generation.

Whether you like Nirvana or not, send your condolences to another life that was taken too early.

RIP Kurt and have a great day Tiger Nation!

think more of the Japan and children who die. Or the children who are murdered/aborted and have no chance to live their life cause of selfish Mom and Dad. Cancer centers where children are and those folks who are layed off and the government couldn't careless. The troops who defend our freedom and getting their pay cut.

Apr 5, 2011, 12:11 PM

Couldnt agree more.

He took his own life so no sympathy from me. By far the most selfish thing a person can do. I tend to care more about our government helping our own rather than sending 100's of millions of dollars in food and supplies to others. Yes I know its tragic what happened and I dont wish that on anyone, but at the same time I'm sure if you listened to the stories of the millions of people in our own back yard that are starving and homeless a lot of those would be bad too. Also, why not give more support to our military families? In particular the ones who have lost loved ones who are serving our country. Don't get me wrong I'm all for helping others but fix yourself before trying to help others IMO.

Not feeling sorry for someone who takes their own life

Apr 5, 2011, 4:35 PM

doesn't make sense to me. You have to be in the deepest darkest depression ever to consider doing something like that. THAT is certainly pitiable. It is true that it hurts so many others as a result that you can also feel contempt, but to have no pity for such a pitiful soul seems to be a little hyperbolic. I've only known a couple of people well who committed suicide, and neither one was a selfish person. They thought it was the only choice and that is terribly sad.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Wow Bryan, way to twist that one all around!***

instead of a physical one and for whatever reason(s) some people don't sympathize with those who suffer from depression or anxiety as they do physical illnesses though they are just as real and often deadly.

At times like these I recall my mother's cross-stitched "Indian Prayer" that used to hang by the table in the kitchen.

"O lord teach me to not judge my neighbor until I've walked a mile in his moccassins"

Apr 5, 2011, 4:44 PM [ in reply to Re: Today is the 17th Anniversary of Kurt Cobain's death.. ]

drugs are purely choice, cancer is not. (maybe lung and throat from smoking) but you don't just say, "hmm I think I want to get cancer today" like you make the conscious decision to pick up your drug of choice.
