Thanks to Billy Napier for his service to Clemson.

Jan 2, 2011, 2:58 PM

I am glad we have a chance to get an experienced OC and this needed to be done. I want/wanted an OC change, but I will not revel in someone losing their job. That is never a good thing.

Best luck in future endeavors to Powell and Napier.

I totally agree. I want to thank these two men and their families for their time here and I wish them nothing but success in the future and I hope they land somewhere great very soon.

agreed.

I appreciate their effort and wish them success.

Hopefully Napier can get on with Furman's new coaching staff.

I agree. Napier will be ok. It's a shame he was thrust into a position for which he wasn't ready (kinda like Dabo, lol). This guy was a monster recruiter and could've stayed at Clemson for years had he not been given OC, at least until he was ready for it. He clearly wasn't ready for it. I wish him all the luck in the world.

You're wrong about one thing . . .

Jan 2, 2011, 7:38 PM

sometimes it is good for someone to lose their job: Obama.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You are absolutely correct

Jan 2, 2011, 8:32 PM

but that is for a different board.

Absolutely. It always bothers me when someone is let go, whether deserved or not. I still question if Napier was allowed to do his job without constant interference. I guess we will never know.

Napier lost a key player on offense... my thanks to him
for his effort. Maybe hired before his time, but I think
CUAD (which has doubled staff numbers the past several years) should find a place to keep such a loyal fan of CU.
We are still ALL IN behind Dabo!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Absolutely. He was a hell of a recruiter.***

I was a recruiting intern for Coach Napier my senior year(08) and he helped me land a job after college. Will always be grateful to him for that and wish him all the best. He's a great recruiter and I think one day will become a #### good coordinator and coach, all he needs is experience. Wish you the best Coach.

Napier is all class. Good luck, Billy***

Don't know how you managed this long working for Dabo!!

Re: Everybody acts like it's the end of the world

Jan 3, 2011, 8:49 PM

for BN. He's made nice money and will have another job within the month. I've never seen such hand ringing over nothing. SOS has run off every position coach and the DC and nothing is said. The only thing he hasn't run off is the OC (himself) and his son. Stop worrying about these coaches. They always land on their feet.

2024 white level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No, it's not the end of the world

Jan 3, 2011, 8:55 PM

And he will land on his feet, but nothing wrong with showing some appreciation. I know a lot of people close to Napier and his wife, and they are/were currently in the process of building a house in Clemson, so that has to sukkkk some for them. If he gets a job out of state somewhere, they are going to have to start a lot of things all over, which is not always easy.
