30 minutes before kick off at the USC game in 2003....

A coot comes up to me, looks me straight in my face and says in all sincerity...
"I don't see how we can lose this game."
Is that not the funniest thing you've heard in your life? I feel kinda bad for them sometimes...naw, I don't.

that their defense was getting ready to unload on us. I asked if he was sure, he said absolutely. I asked him to meet me after the game right back where he was running that mouth. Believe it or not he was a no show.

all other coots " He's coming" in reference to Spurrier. He was more comcerned with Spurrier than the game itself. They got their butts kicked again and still had something to fall back on, lol!

I wonder if he was one of the 10,000 or so $CU fans

who left before the half, or if he was one of the 30,000 more loyal $CU fans who stayed until half-time, but didn't bother returning after the half?

At least he had the opportunity to say that to him. Most coots would've ignored him or left before halftime.

always argue on whether the ACC or SEC is a better football conference with the addition of miami and vt. No matter what he says, all I have to do is say, "Well, if USC would join the WAC, the SEC would be a stronger conference" and there's never a response which results in the end of the argument.

Everyone is living the urban legend that the players who

made the number 8 and 11 recruiting classes from a few years ago at South Carolina are still there. Most of the 4 and 5 star guys that gave them the high rankings those years were either JC's, who are now gone, transferred players, non qualifiers, or only average contributors to their program. The best young player on their team was a 2 star RS freshman Ko Simpson.
Shoot, even a Charleston sports writer commented in August that the only player at Clemson better than his counterpart at USC was Whitehurst. How do you compete with that logic after a 63-17 thrashing nine months earlier.
This season, CW only had an average game, but IMHO, the beating was worse than last year. They only crossed the fifty with possession one time, and that was with about 8 minutes left in the game. We score TD's instead of field goals from the three late trips inside the 10 and Groover picks up the blocked punt and scores from the 2 yard line we would have hung 50 points. That aside, this year still felt more dominating than last year to me, albeit with a closer score.
BUT, even the media will tell you they are more talented than us. Whatever makes them feel better!
