'Twas the Week before Kickoff

‘Twas the week before kickoff and all through the city,
Football players were moving, oh what a pity.
NCAA is in town, reduced room rates to blame,
Now some of the players may not play in the game.

Spurrier himself said he knew they stayed there,
But if it was legit, he apparently didn’t care.
This is his chance to win in the SEC East,
Or maybe, just maybe, finally finish 2nd at least.

So he pulled down his visor and looked the other way,
“We won like this at Florida back in the day”.
“Nobody will know, at least for some time,
By then I’ll be gone, back in the Florida sunshine”.

Go Saunders, Go Auguste, Go Whitlock and King,
Go Ajiboye and Paulk and grab all your things.
You have to move out because the NCAA is in town,
They’re shutting the great deal at the Whitney down.

Don’t worry Coot fans, this will sort itself out,
You can blame Joe Person and on the radio you’ll shout
“Every school does it, it’s really no big deal”.
Go on keep pretending as if it’s not real.

What lies ahead for the Coots is anyone’s guess,
Will they be punished for getting rooms for less?
One thing’s for sure, this will probably get worse,
As Ole Ben can be heard…“Long Live the Chicken Curse”!
