Great news about Preston Loyd. Kid run over by lawnmower

Jul 16, 2009, 10:02 PM

Okay, the news you have all been waiting for…WE ARE GOING HOME ON TUESDAY, JULY 21!!! Doctors and rehab therapists met today and decided that Tuesday was the day. We are so excited. I know Cinamon, Mom and Dad are especially excited. I have been back to work, but they have done the daily grind at the hospital. I get Saturday, but it’s not like being here everyday.

There are so many things to coordinate: Skilled nursing care, hospital bed, feeding machine, suction machine, car seat, home rehab, medicine, supplies…the list goes on. It is overwhelming to think about going home, but most of all it is so great to know Preston is well enough to make the transition. I remember back in the middle of May, we had just moved to the Progressive Care floor of the hospital and I was freaking out because we did not have two nurses over Preston at all times. I was on the phone with Dr. Schulman from Pediatric Surgical Associates. I will never forget what he told me: “Preston would not be on that floor is he wasn’t better and able to leave PICU.” So, even though this is a bit traumatic, I know we would not be going home if Preston wasn’t well enough to endure.

Items for prayer:
• Pray for Preston to continue with his miraculous healing. Please remain specific in your prayers for retune of full vision. Pray for return of full mobility to Preston’s left elbow and arm. Pray that his internal repairs continue to heal so we may go forward with the esophageal repair within the next year. Pray his cognition continues to improve. Pray his physical rehab progresses so he is able to walk unassisted and run and play as he did before. Pray for Preston.
• Pray for our family as we transition home. Pray the transition is seamless and we settle back into life as a family. Pray God’s grace and mercy as we learn to deal with lots of folks in our home. We will have nurses, rehab specialists and family and friends. It will be a learning process, but we will make it through.
• Continued to pray for one another. I have been sent many prayer requests for a minister’s child from SC, Libby Claire McGarity. http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/libbyclairemcgarity She fell from a second floor balcony onto a tile floor . She has a head injury. Her parents are holding vigil much the same was as Cinamon and I did. Lift us this family, and lift up one another.

God is so good. We have been blessed beyond measure. Even though we are in the midst of a trial, God is performing miracles daily in the lives of Preston and our family. When we arrived here on April 22, there was little hope our son would live. Once it was determined he would live, there was little hope for any normalcy. Now, he is laughing and talking and getting back to being Preston. Don’t get me wrong, we have a long way to go. We are praying and claiming God will heal Preston’s eyes perfectly and heal Preston’s elbow perfectly, but we know that will be in His time. We now have a hope, we have a future, and Preston has a destiny that is yet awaiting him. Our life’s not over, a new beginnings just begun. We have a hope, we have a hope. (From Jeremiah 29 and song by Tommy Walker)
Bless all of you for your prayers and love.

In His Arms with Hope,

Ashton

On a lighter note, the thread title was a little misleading...

I have not been on Tigernet for a while so this is
the first time I have heard of this horible event.
I have an 16 month old little girl and could not comprehend such a horrible experiance. I am so relived to hear he is doing well and will pray for his continued
recover.

May GOD bless you and keep you!!

I was just thinking about this the other day and was wondering how things were going. I don't consider myself hugely religious but I will continue to keep this family in my thoughts and prayers.
