CLEMSON ? It?s official: James Davis is set to return to Clemson.

According to sources familiar with the situation, Davis has received approval from both the NFL and Clemson?s compliance department to return for his senior season with the Tigers.

Davis, a tailback who earned first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference in 2006 and 2007, had a change of heart in the past couple of days after announcing last week he would skip his senior season and enter the NFL Draft.

The deadline for underclassmen to declare for the draft was Tuesday, but the NFL allows a 72-hour grace period to rescind the declaration.

Clemson?s compliance department and athletic director Terry Don Phillips signed off on Davis? return after determining he hadn?t accepted anything from an agent. Davis then received approval from the NFL, which had a deadline of midnight for him to convey his decision in writing.
