Holding Serve...

Coming home from work tonight, I listened to a local sports call-in show. Fans were predicting this year's records for the Tigers and Coots. Several callers mentioned the possibility of Clemson having a letdown following a big win and specifically mentioned our home games against Ga. Tech (following Wake) and NC State (following Maryland). Those of us who follow college football closely know that no team can be "up" for eleven or twelve consecutive games.

That's where we come in. In order for the Tigers to have the kind of season we all hope for, we must (repeat, MUST) go undefeated in Death Valley. It's not a wish, it's a mandate. When the Tigers start to stumble (and it's inevitable that they will), it's our job as fans to lift them up and will them to victory. In the Florida State game last year, the fans and team fed off of each other's enthusiasm and created an atmosphere that frankly overwhelmed the Seminoles. Each of us as fans must make it our personal responsibility to be there, be loud, be supportive, and be the difference.

I pledge to do my part. Will you?
