If TR commits to ...

Jul 26, 2006, 3:54 PM

Clemson, I plan to ... well, I need to clip my fingernails sometime soon.

USC, well, I'll still need to clip my fingernails.

Actually, I'm in to this recruiting stuff, but some people need a little distance, better balance, a cup of tea and a delicious scone, something to relax them.

I have followed recruiting long enough to know you never get everyone you want, and the experts always get a large number of prognostications wrong, and that forecasts never take into account character, and so who can say what the significance of TR committing will be?

Look at some of CU and SC's previous 5 star guys--Roscoe Crosby, Demitrius Summers, Randy Jackson, or look at other 4 star guys who like Brandon Cannon or Maurice Nelson who will never beat out 2 or 3 star guys. Kelvin Grant was a 4 star guy. I think Aaron Kelley, who was a 2 star guy, will be a better player. This list could go on and on.

I thought it was interesting what some Clemson coaches said about Landon Walker, who happened to be a 4 star guy, but they didn't originally rank him as highly as Sturdivant, also from NC. But later when they saw the two on the same field at the same time they thought there was no comparison, and so they are glad UGA got Sturdivant because it meant they went hard after Walker. Now Sturdivant is still ranked higher by national analysts, but that is not the opinion of Clemson coaches.

Peace.

Controversial political opinions in the Lounge. There used to be thumb down icon for issuing negative points. Being anti-war in the Lounge and critical of U.S. foreign policy used to be a sure way to collect negative points. :)

Can I get my point back?***

Jul 26, 2006, 4:02 PM

happen???

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Getting Robertson is a BIG deal.........losing him is also..

Jul 26, 2006, 4:14 PM

a BIG deal. No it's not the end of the world, but it still sucks if he doesn't announce for the tigers tomorrow. I'll also moan and complain about why he didn't choose us, but you are right on a world scale it doesn't matter, but if nobody cared then it wouldn't be taken up most of the topics on this board.

BTW I personally prefer 4 stars over 2 stars look at Texas and USC (the real one) and you can see the difference those types of players have on your program.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

True, I'd rather have 4 star guys,

Jul 26, 2006, 4:18 PM

especially those that have offers from the likes of FSU, Miami, Notre Dame, Texas, USC, Michigan, you get my drift. I'm more interested in what other coaches think than in what the recruiting analysts think.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I got you to plus 1 dude

Jul 26, 2006, 4:39 PM

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I agree that everyone needs to relax...

Jul 26, 2006, 4:47 PM

And to ease the stress I'll repost a few of the current team 'rankings' from rivals that I averaged up the other day. We have some room to relax about recruiting because the coaches are obviously doing an excellent job.

Team----------AVG Stars

So Cal--------4.0
Texas---------3.91
Notre Dame----3.88
UCLA----------3.67
Clemson-------3.55
Georgia-------3.5
Florida-------3.46
LSU-----------3.45
UVA-----------3.45
Miami---------3.43
Auburn--------3.36
Penn St.------3.33
Michigan------3.33
FSU-----------3.33
OSU-----------3.33
TAMU----------3.25

and down from there...

I guess you could say I'm just as crazy about recruiting as anyone as I took the time to average them all up; however, now that I know we are in good shape, I'm just going to enjoy it while it lasts.
