because Mike Freeman was a much better second baseman. He would have sat on the bench for three years (if he'd stayed that long) and he MAY have had a chance to start this year. I bet David Perno wishes to this day he'd kept Mike Freeman instead of letting him get away. But no, some kid that started at Texas wanted to get back to the state of Georgia so Perno let Mike leave. The other kid turned out to be a bust.
He had the chance to go to Clemson, but either didn't want to compete or didn't like Jack Leggett's rules. Maybe that's why he "felt more at home" in Cootville. Tanner would let him do whatever he wanted and Jack Leggett wouldn't.

it does seem that he really disrespects his dad,you figure if he got recruited by usuc,that a few other d-1 schools also were after him,and for him to choose them,i might would have to disown him.and since baseball is only a partial schollie he would have to come up with the remainder of the monies on his own.ok,i might not disown him,but i surely wouldn't be a happy man.there are alot of other schools,just do not go to that ONE.

Freeman would have played over Wingo had Wingo gone to Clemson. But I don't think its fair to say that Freeman turned out to be a better player than Wingo. Wingo has never been a player you can measure by just stats, he's always played great defense and is the kind of guy who fights tooth and nail to not get out.

just exactly who is supposed to feel belittled because a Scott Wingo has had a hugely successful college baseball career including being a thorn in the side of Clemson for 3 years and winning the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP on a team which will be remember by SC for years along with the SEC championship this year, yet supposedly would have been a benchsitter to a guy who nobody remembers today and definitely would not be able to name in 4 years????
Silly argument. Perhaps Clemson would have been better served going with the "inferior" player who somehow always seems to end up right in the middle of winning titles and awards???
I suspect that Mike Freeman would gladly trade his "superior" talent for Wingo's Rings?

The rule is that the ump calls the pitch just like he does every other pitch.
If a batter leans in and get's hit on purpose, the ump doesn't award the player the base. This isn't a new rule in college.

How the heck is Wingo's father a traitor to Clemson? He is supporting his son just like any father should do. Scott would probably been at Clemson had Jack wanted him. If he had come to Clemson, he would be playing. There is always room for a player like Scott Wingo. Any Tiger fan that can't see that is blind. Besides being an excellent defensive player, he busts his butt and does whatever is necessary to get the job done.

Your post is pathetic. Doesn't matter what Wingo is, or his Dad for that matter, you are a typical redneck who takes pleasure criticising those who succeed at other programs. Both Wingos had success. I remember Scott's Dad at Clemson and had respect for him and his abilities.
