A call to the Silverbacks....

Nov 5, 2009, 6:53 AM

A cry into the jungle of time, of age, of the daily worries that have led many of you astray.

The job. The wife. The mortgage. The kids. The fact that the whole world's going to ####.

For just one evening, I'm calling on all the Silverbacks. Guys who find their way to the games out of some long-dormant sense of duty rather than enthusiasm. I'm asking ... no, I'm pleading ... for you to come out of your jungle and into the Valley.

Come not as old, weary bodies walking glumly to the inevitable fate that waits for us all. For this one evening, this one game, I want you to rise again. Pound your chests with the fury and force we once shared.

Shake off everything that shackles you to the daily humdrum that has slowly sucked away your soul. Remember and revive the you that once made the Valley roar and opponents vomit into their helmets with fear.

It IS still in you. I know it. I feel it.

Silverbacks, rise up and take back your rightful spot. Bring these Tigers your will, your fight, your voice.

I'm asking you to turn back time for three hours. Then, if you wish, wander back into the jungle, into your soul-sucking existence.

But for those three hours Saturday night, cast it all aside. Reclaim your youth. It's right where you left it.

In the Valley.

And you younger folks, who look at the Silverbacks as they grump and grouse and pick each other's fleas and say "I'll NEVER be like that" ... that's EXACTLY what those Silverbacks said in the 70s.

Do not let your youth and spirit be sucked away. Let it breathe and breed and spread throughout the Valley. Don't curse the Silverbacks. Lift them with your spirit until they find their own, hidden under their seat cushion.

It's still there. I promise. Just reach out and grab it.

This team, your team, your memories and pride, deserve nothing less.

Come back to the Valley ... and bring #### with you.

Drink an extra cup of metamucil, and chase it with a red bull. whatever it takes, act like a 21 year old again, and let the world hear your voice!

I'm a 17 year old spirit trapped in a 61 year old body

Nov 5, 2009, 7:18 AM

But I still act ferocious on game day.

Front Row Lot 13 starting 8 AM (or there abouts)

Willie B was old but the youngn's didn't mess with him.

And Jack Daniel's and Jose Cuervo do a helluva lot more than Metamucil and Red Bull to incite my spirit.

God Bless His Soul!

My Aunt Sandra called me Willie B when I was a kid and it used to make me nuts...But then one day I came to realize what a beautiful, proud spirit he was. So glad he passed, living in grass and trees and in the company of his kin.

I have not missed a home game in 37 years and I will be there Sat. That may seem like a very long time, but it does not look that way from this end! The ride has been exciting and I still get a lump in my throat every time my Tigers gather at the rock to run down the hill. Two things about my Tigers, I am always proud, and I am always LOUD! BRING IT ON!!!!!

Rev also leads a pack of devoted followers at an isolated ranch on the outskirts of Fayetnam. Be careful, his charisma can lead you to do things you never thought you'd do.

My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament.

some do have i coming.

me at a Clemson football or basketball game will be the very first time. I'm usually proud of our student body at the games and they carry forth a noble tradition cuz they do a heckuva job.

BUT MAKE NO MISTAKE! There might be snow on the roof, but the furnace still glows orange.
