COLLEGE FOOTBALL Clemson Wide receiver Xavier Dye and USC wide receiver Moe Brown have been announced as nominees for the Allstate/AFCA Good Works Team.
The team is composed of student-athletes that exhibit the definition of teamwork and giving back to their communities through selfless contributions and commendable acts of kindness.
Dye, a former Byrnes standout, tutors at a Clemson middle school once a week and speaks regularly at elementary schools and children’s hospitals.
Brown led several station activities for the USC Boys Scouts Day and was chosen to give the closing speech at the camp.
Brown mentors once a month at New Prospect Elementary School and volunteers at Camp Kemo, a summer camp that helps children battling cancer.
From the 106 nominees, two 11-person teams will be announced with one for the FBS and the other for FCS, Division II, Division III and NAIA during the football season.
Former USC coach Lou Holtz is serving as the spokesperson for the program.
