in Columbia when we played the huskers in the Orange Bowl. I always thought it was a tacky thing to do, but you could say they started it.

$CU should beat NC State.

Although NC State started out 1-5 last year, they did manage a pretty strong finish winning four of their last six including games against UVa and Miami. As much as I dislike him, O'Brien is a pretty good coach but he still has a lot of work to do at NC State
State still has issues at QB, at LB and in the secondary and if they get hit with injuries like they did last year it could be another tough season for them. State just doesn't have enough depth to endure a repeat of 2007. They really need to stay healthy in order to use last season as a stepping stone.
At the end of the day, State is still in rebuilding mode. If they can improve on last years 5-7 record while being more competitive against the ACC?s better schools, 2008 season will be considered a successful season for them.
Persoanlly I think finishing .500 will be a challenge for this team with likely losses against South Carolina, Clemson, BC, FSU, Maryland, Wake and Miami. Games against East Carolina, South Florida, and UNC will all be toss-up game for them. The only sure wins I see come against William & Mary and Duke.

How is South Florida supposed to be this year? They kinda peaked in about week 6 or 7 last year.

South Florida is a hard team to figure out. They started out red hot last year only to flop at the end of the season and in their bowl game against Oregon.
I still think this is a program on the rise and Jim Lovett has done a pretty darn good job of really raising the talent level down there. Offensively they should be just as good if not better than last year. The defense will be their big question.
The game is in Raleigh but right now, I'd pick UCF to win.

State has a better coach, because the coot coach doesn't care anymore.

in a few years but they have serious deficiencies at QB and on the LOS. Coots do have more talent. Hopefully NCSU can get a good showing from their o-line and grind it out with the good RBs they have.

Although I'm not convinced he really cares about the University of South Carolina, its fans, its academic integrity, or the character of its student- athletes, Spurrier absolutely still cares about his own coaching legacy and win/loss record.

The woofies have big problems in a lot of areas. USC should win it fairly comfortably.

I have realized one thing--State is the lesser of the three (State/UNC/Duke) evils. This also has to do with them stinking at most everything recently. I know their fans are awful when they win, but it's still better than a holier than thou Puke or Tarhole fan--or UNC or Duke Wal-Mart fan for that instance.

Would have to agree with you there. I've spent a lot of time in Raleigh and a good amount in Chapel Hill, and while NC State fans are obnoxious and crude they don't usually rise much above "annoying". Duke and UNC fans, however, are simply insufferable, convinced that they deserve championships and adoration simply because of the name on the merchandise they're buynig.
