Wow, Morrow's HS coach threw D. Horn under the bus

Darius Morrow's HS coach Phil McCrary (sp?) was on a local Columbia radio station and said some pretty nasty things about the new USC coach Darrin Horn. This is the Morrow kid from Columbia High School, Decatur Georgia that asked out of his commitment to USC.

This coach has over 30 years experience and has sent 60+ players to D-1 schools. Won 2 of last 3 Ga 4-AAAA state championships, played in the finals the other year.

McCrary said:
1) no contact from Horn to player during first 2 weeks after hire; he finally had to call Eric Hyman to ask what was going on. He said a simple phone call or letter would have made all the difference instead of having the kid wait in suspense for 2 weeks to have any contact with his new coach.

2) A home visit was finally set up through McCrary.

3) Morrow, mom, and coach waited at player's home for visit; when they answered the door there was a USC assistant, not Horn. (not sure who). Asst said Horn had a "family emergency" in Kentucky and couldn't make it (no call was made to inform them). Coach later found out that Horn actually had gone to see Narcisse (Clemson signee) instead, so he flat out lied to Morrow.

4) on the home visit, the USC asst disparaged the Odom staff very badly, saying they didn't know how to evaluate or develop talent. Coach had never heard such talk in 30 years of recruiting visits with his players. Morrow took this as a slap in the face, since Odom's staff recruited him.

5) Horn did not call after assistant's visit - coach had to call Hyman AGAIN to see what was happening and if he was ever going to make contact with the kid.

6) Horn finally called this Tuesday and spoke with Morrow directly for the first time; Morrow said forget it; don't bother, I'm going somewhere else. He 's talked with several ACC and SEC schools (not Clemson - the host asked).

Of course, Gamecock callers spent the next hour hollering at the host Rich Taylor, like it was his fault.

As has been said many times, we have a GREAT rival.
