I feel like I'm watching the same bad movie over and over

The Clemson-USC football rivalry - the ###### (since 1889)
1. USC buys themselves "THE" coach, promising that "this one is different"; fanbase giddily prepares itself for years of dominance
2. USC pulls out close win against Clemson; fans warned to "get used to it"
3. Media and fans declare that USC program has caught/passed Clemson; USC football has "turned the corner"
4. Media overhypes USC recruiting class as "Top 10" & "best ever"
5. "The State" newspaper publishes numerous special collectors' editions
6. Endless praise and accolades heaped upon the new savior-coach; Clemson program and recruits scorned, ridiculed, and declared "mediocre"
7. Ben Tillman chuckles and rattles his pitchfork
8. After inexplicable calamities, mishaps, and overall futility, the USC program returns to it's normal place in the football world - everyone's homecoming opponent
9. "The Coach" retires in frustration, his legacy damaged beyond repair, never to be heard from again in coaching circles
10. The disparaged Clemson program chugs along through it all with top 25 rankings & annual bowl appearances, remaining the top program in the Carolinas and one of the best in the South
11. Lather, rinse, repeat
Ho-Hum. Yawn.
How many of you have seen this movie before? Some of you have seen it 5 or 6 times. You young folks out there will be telling your grandkids this same old story, just as your grandfather told you.

Lou, and now SOS.
to put recent history in perspective. Lou did better his second year than SOS just did. Lou had a couple of top 10 recruiting classes his first few years, then beginning in year 4, losing seasons until his last year (6-5).
Same old same old. SOS will do a little better, probably averaging 8-9 wins a year (will make him Mayor of Cola), but no SEC divison or conference titles.

I think Spurrier still has a lot to prove. Regardless of my opinions of South Carolina...they are improving by leaps and bounds.

To answer your question, no, I have never seen this before. And neither has anyone elso. This must have been a dream because how can USC suddenly falter after what you are seeing with their program. Gawd, man, be a little objective. They are building a huge program, and we, after eight @#$%$#@ years Clemson goe to the Music City bowl, and don't come close to a Division title. Now that is a bad movie..

don't you remember the Lou Holtz dynasty? National Championship promises, legendary coaches, Top 10 recruiting classes, New Year bowl trips, domination of Clemson on and off the field. It may have been even worse then than it is now with the hype. So what happened there?
That's just the last time...there's a dozen othere examples of the "birth of the Gamecock dynasty".
History repeats itself - especially in that Olympia cesspool - you can set your clock to it.
