Check out Shaq Lawson's numbers

Jul 16, 2015, 10:54 AM

Looking at these numbers I came away with two things. Shaq is going to have a monster year and Mitch Hyatt is the real deal. (This image was posted by TI on Twitter)

Love seeing that . I hope he and Dodd and Yeargin and Register really mesh and get after the QB this year .
Shaq I think has really been lucky comparedAdams/Bowers/Sapp because his career is being guided under the defensive tutelage of one Brent Venables ....and not Vic Koenning or a Kevin "cough " Steele .

swinney did say he was probably the best DE we have had here, and he is usually very pessimistic in his appraisals.

And he has Venables and Hobby coaching him

Let's not forget how fundamentally sound and disciplined our defense is now. I trust our defensive staff to have him ready to dominate.

remember this kid as a true freshman coming in a whipping a paul johnson cut block on his first snap. The kid was awfully good out of the box.

Can't he be great out of the box and be coached to be even better?

For sure! But when a coach like Venables is able to work with someone as talented as Lawson right out of the box, the ceiling becomes that much higher.

From what I've heard early on, it sounds like Albert Huggins is another amazing "out-of-the-box" talent. I'm very optimistic about the talent we've got on our defensive line, even with the astounding amount of losses we suffered last year. I think it may take a few weeks for them to come together, but once they click they're going to be a great unit.

Couldn't agree more. Plus, I think that Register is hungry and has the size and speed to punish.

I'm personally excited to see what Yeargin can do, and hopefully Clelin Ferrell will be able to come in after his injury in HS last year and make an impact.

Sure he could've. He's one that could operate out of the box, without the batteries!!! :)
