Anyone ever looked at these pictures? (Clemson Campus)

Feb 29, 2012, 11:24 AM

These are held at the Library and have been uploaded into a photo stream. This link is to the Retro Photo Friday series. It is amazing to see pictures of the campus from the past. Even one of Thomas Green Clemson at Ft. Hill.

WOW.. Great photos! Gives me a real sense of the evolution of Clemson University. I'm proud to say I'm an Alumnus!

AWESOME!!

The dorms (barracks) behind Tillman Hall looked incredible back in the '20's. I can't believe they were torn down and replaced with the Johnstone eye sores.

Also, it looks like we've been gathering at the Paw after football since the '20's ;).

You must be wrong

ESecPN seems to think we've only been going on the field with our success this past year

Thanks I still have them open in a tab on my computer. I keep looking through them and finding new things. Very cool to see the underground tunnel system being put in behind the library. Went into those in 2006 and thought it was cool to be doing something Clemson students had been doing for years.

Also the post office picture the guy is looking into a mailbox that is in the same general area as mine from freshman year. Even though I only graduated a few years ago I already miss it.

Great photo's, some of which I remember...

Howard on the Hill 1967: even the kids tried to "dress" for the games...very few shorts, jeans, etc. and most of the ladies wore dresses; Clemson Campus in 1969: my room in the tin cans was on that top floor, 3rd window from the right...hot as Hades with no A/C; Cheerleaders from 1965: a good pix of The Country Gentleman (in this case Robin Watson.) Thomas Clemson at Ft. Hill: few know that he started the tradition of the lounging about the campus and why Mrs. C raised the heck with him about grass and dirt stains on his clothes!

It was great to see the football schedule the year I was born, but then to see my first first friday parade picture in black and white as a retro picture, sobering. Which is actually ironic to the state we were all in at that parade. What a day.
