hiring Spence and being turned down by the LSU coaches... I think I can speak for all CU fans by saying KISS OUR TIGER, 63-17 A$$. No matter who our coaches end up being we will whip you and yours every year. We have proven that year in and year out and will continue to drag you up and down the field no matter who our coaches are or who your coaches are, ol ball sack and all. So Who's your daddy!!!!!!

Skip was probably a better HC than an assistant at least under his dad (two totally different offensive philosophies). Brad Scott is a much better assistant than he was a head coach. I'm sure there are many other coaches who have failed as head coaches, who are great assistants or coordinators.

highly doubtful you can be a successful head coach. HC is more responsibility to both sides of the ball plus more responsibility off the field. But well see how Skip does at ECU, because I could be dead wrong (I doubt it though).

Skip laid the foundation at UCONN for them to go 1A.

Who knows if he would have been as successful in the transition as the guy who followed him, but without Holtz and the job he did, they may not have even tried, or if they tried, they may have failed.

Does the CEO of Dell know how to build a computer....oh wait, maybe that's a bad example. My point is, it that the Head Coach has to deal with and be better at handling a lot more then just football.(boosters, media, ADs, students, fans, sports facilities, etc.) Some guys that maybe be geniuses when it comes to Xs and Os on both sides of the ball just don't have the skills to run a program. I bet you would find that a good Head Coach of a goo D1 football team would probably be just as good of a manager of small business. Even though he may not know a great deal about the business.

as for the actual coaching part yes HC have to know what their doing I guarantee you that TB is as brillant on the field as he is off. And as far as other D1 schools go, give me an example of a markee program with a head coach that wasn't a proven coordinator.

they wouldn't be over here! BTW I think Spence is a good hire for yall...his philosophy seems more in line with Bowden's than did O'Cain's. Also, he is obviously a very good coach.

What other reason for all of you Gamecocks to hang out here on Tigernet more than on Gamecock websites.
Most Tiger fans like myself may lurk on Gamecock sites but DO NOT post!
