open letter to Tiger Nation "newbs"

Oct 22, 2004, 9:14 AM

i've been on Tigernet only a short time.
but i've seen the words "newb" and "newbie" so many times, i felt compelled to give you my definition :

until you have sat on the Hill and watched Clemson battle UGa for a top 10 spot

until you have sat in Death Valley and watch Florida State have to use trickeration to win because we were handing them their butts

until you have seen a Clemson quarterback win 30+ games in his career

until you see multiple first team All-Americans on a Clemson team

until you have seen Clemson kick 50+ yard field goals with consistency

until you have seen Clemson win ACC championship after ACC championship

until you have seen 9-1-1 seasons back to back and felt disappointed

until you have seen Clemson fans get ticked off because the likes of Furman got a first down in the game

until you have seen a defense so strong that teams like Maryland were HAPPY to get 100+ yards in total offense

until you have breathed the rare air called perennial NATIONAL power

until you have breathed the rare air called National Champion

you MIGHT wanna re-consider who you call "newb"

now,
i will say that i hope all you "newbs" that have never seen or experienced these things, will get to very soon !

GO TIGERS !! WHIP MARYLAND LIKE YOU HAVE BEFORE !!

I have seen it all my friend.
On the hill for the UGA game after a night
in Johnstone. Man what times they were.

remember before the game the two drunk UGA fans that

attacked the cheerleaders with the big CU flag (I think it was that year). They ran from the cops off the field and one of them jump the fence onto the hill right in front of me. Decided right there I could not wait till college.

than the internet and don't even know who Anthony King was. How bout the come back at UVA in 81 with the punt block and the last second field goal at UVA. Was there and one of the best games ever.
Just keep posting showing you know some real tiger history and the d.a. newbie name callers will shut up.

I'm not a 'Newbie' anymore, I'm an 'Amateur'. Oh yeah, I'm

Excellent post!
As a "newbie" myself I get kind of sick and tired of seeing that term. Regardless of how long anyone of us has been affiliated with Clemson, we all share one common bond: a love for this great university. If someone needs the validation that comes from having lots of points, then so be it, but that doesn't make them anymore of a fan than the next guy or gal.
