Act like Clemson fans
Sep 16, 2008, 5:02 PM
|
|
Regardless of who we are playing, if we choose to attend the sporting events of our university, we should carry ourselves with a certain amount of class and respect for our guests.
Obviously, as Americans we are free to express ourselves however we see fit. But that doesn't mean it's a good idea to fly a confederate flag over the stadium when we're playing an HBC. Or Boston College for that matter. When we act like fools, that reflects poorly on Clemson.
How about when we enter Death Valley, we leave politics, race, religion, etc. at the door and just concentrate on being Clemson football fans. I really have not seen this as a huge problem, but apparently I've struck a nerve with some.
Go Tigers

convenient to leave out the part about if you are doing it for show, which personally I don't think that saying a prayer before the game is just for show.

I'm thankful that Clemson still has the prayer and hope it remains a part of the Clemson tradition forever.

I would have issue with this idea.
But then again I'm the first to admit I'm an extremely conservative Baptist/South Carolinian.

most of the prayers seem to be very fair and appropriate. I know a Jewish professor gave a prayer last year and was very unbiased... including a creator God and this and that, trying to make it pertain to all... just my .02

we played Dixie after the Alma Mater. But, then again when I went to Clemson, there were 7500 students, a downtown theater, the study hall, red carpet lounge, capri's and a new Astro!

So, everybody wrap themselves, uh, what color wrap? And
Sep 16, 2008, 9:05 PM

don't wear red white and blue...shoot don't wear orange either because that makes a statement as well...
...but, however, btw, my "faith" in Jesus goes everywhere I go. So much so that if I am in the stands of a game, and a Christian prayer (since we are a Christian nation) isn't offered, then I will pray one myself. Out loud. And nothing nyou can say or do will stop me.
And you can call it show if you care too, but God will know the difference even if those who should do not.
