I believe......

I believe that Clemson fans can be optimistic about our team without wearing Orange Colored Glasses.
I believe that is easier to complain than to praise.
I believe that we have the staff in place to successfully compete for a national championship.
I believe that there are people who never wanted Ford to be successful, some that never wanted Hatfield to be successful, some that never wanted West to be successful, and some that never wanted Bowden to be successful.
I believe we've hit home runs with the hires of Hobby, Koenning, and Spence.
I believe that the coaches get too much blame when we lose, and too little praise when we win.
I believe that we have a head coach who does his best to shield players and coaches from critizism and prefers to take it himself, often unjustly.
I believe that graduating over 75% of scholarship seniors, a feat never before matched in Clemson history, is as important to those young men as winning football games.
I believe that a lot of our fans couldn't care less if players graduated or not.
I believe that talent on the team has increased each of the past four years and will continue to do so.
I believe that until our talent level is at the top 1/3 of that in the ACC, stupid mistakes will cost us games against lesser opponenets.
I believe that we can have a dominating defense sooner rather than later.
I believe that our offense is performing well enough for us to win.
I believe that patience is not a dirty word.
I believe that people that want changes are NOT bad fans, but I don't agree with their approach.
I believe that losses are more painful to players and coaches than to fans.
I believe that although recruits care about wins and losses, every recruit looks for something different. I believe that the relationships cultivated by some of our coaches and the Clemson environment transcend the simple phrase "Recruits don't want to play for losers." Not all care about facilities either.
I believe that being excited about the future does not mean that we should lower our expectations for the present.
I believe that being critical of coaches and players openly does not contribute in a positive fashion to the welfare of the team, no matter how therapuetic it may be.
I believe that I can disagree with a fellow fan and still enjoy a beer with them at the end of the day because we all want the same thing: Success at Clemson.
I believe that South Carolina has a snowball's chance in Hades of beating us this year (I believe Tennessee is vastly overrated, but congratuations to USC nonetheless).
I believe that until a coach or player is no longer an employee or student at Clemson, they should be treated as a member of the family.
I believe in "bullet points" because I am not very good at flowery writing.

that MBRO is on-the-money. Esp. about Coach Bowden taking it on the chin for his players. I'm not so sure about recruiting "in each of the last 4 years," but I'm definitely sure of it over the past two, and looking ahead to next year.

blind loyalists (no, you're not better fans than others).
I believe we have been mediocre under TB's tenure and there's nothing wrong recognizing that.
I believe TB has done some really good things here, but has also underachieved on the field.
I believe many fans are blinded by Tommy's last name and think he can do no wrong.
I believe there's a new breed of Clemson fan (PC) that will accept 6-5 seasons and just being bowl-eligible.
But all in all, good post.

Sure there are, but there are also blind alarmists.
> I believe we have been mediocre under TB's tenure and > there's nothing wrong recognizing that.
To me, mediocre denotes a .500 record. I believe Bowden is 15-16 games above that, or about 2-3 games per year. While that is not acceptable by my standards, I see progess being made. We ARE a better team now than we were in 2001, 2002, 2003, or 2004
> I believe TB has done some really good things here, > but has also underachieved on the field.
He'd probably be the first person to tell you he's underacheived. His goal is to win the ACC and from there, the national championship. He says that at the beginning of every season. Anything less is a failure.
> I believe many fans are blinded by Tommy's last name > and think he can do no wrong.
If people aren't over the last name by now, I don't know what to say. I'd say seven years is long enough for most people to form an opinion of Bowden, regardless of name.
> I believe there's a new breed of Clemson fan (PC) > that will accept 6-5 seasons and just being > bowl-eligible.
In my opinion, that's an easy generalization for someone to make. Any loss makes me sick to my stomach....I usually don't eat that night. I challege you to find anyone that thinks 6-5 and bowl eligible is a successful season. I think that that perception comes from fans that don't get down on a team or a coach for 6 wins.....just because some don't call for firings doesn't mean that a 6 win season is acceptable.
> But all in all, good post.
Thanks.....nice discussion.

the fact that we're stuck with him for the next 2 years, means I'll pull like crazy for him to prove all the naysayers wrong. However, when we lose unacceptable games, I won't get on here and act like everything's "rosey." The fact is, we've simply been a mediocre team during his tenure. There's no denying that. I'm one that takes his orange-colored galsses off from time to time.
