My two cents on the 2005 Tiger Baseball Team

May 28, 2005, 5:29 PM

As I read this board I am always amazed at reactions after a loss.

I have to admit that I did not have high expectations for this year. I thought we'd struggle to make a regional, never thought we would be in a position to host one. I think if people were honest, most felt that same way.

These young men have displayed tremendous fight and determination. We just faced some very tough pitching in UVA. The error by Widmann cost us, and you can bet he knows that.

All of these things can only help us next week. Our starting pitchers Faris, Cribb, and Rohrbaugh did phenomenal jobs, Kopp did a great job of keeping us in the game today. Harvey's bat, well enough said!!! We will miss him.

All that being said I guess a few of you just expect perfection. I think it's terribly childish and petty to trash Jack when he has absolutely turned this team around this year!

So my advice is get off this message board for a while, enjoy the beautiful long weekend with friends and family. Think about all the good things that this team has accomplished and quit nitpicking about Jack and whether or not we should have done this in that situation.

And now....I am following my own advice!! :)

Have a great evening!

Go Tigers! Congrats on a terrific season so far!

I don't see too much of a bad reaction on this board.

Have posts been deleted or something? It doesn't seem to me that many people are freaking out about the loss

Truly, this is one of the best seasons I've ever seen...

... at Clemson in terms of producing success (not astronomical success like in years past, but a substantial success) with a LOT of new faces and minimal expectations. Hey... those new faces are gonna produce a LOT for us over a LONG time.

Consider how our recruiting classes have been raided in years past. At some point, a top program will get raided, and a program that has been raided is put in a position where it must take a bunch of fresh faces and make them winners. The program either accomplishes that feat or ceases to be a top program. Well, guess what.

I don't know a lot about baseball. Never played it in an organized fashion. I often see a decision in a game that has me scratching my head... maybe I don't understand all the reasons behind it, and maybe it's actually a questionable decision. What is UNQUESTIONABLE, though, is the season outcome and future prospects... this is a job done #### well.

Next time, vote Jabba like you're supposed to.
