Wake Forest and Brandon Ford
Apr 5, 2012, 12:45 PM
|
|
Last night I was watching the Wake Forest game from last year and I realized how much Brandon Ford came up HUGE for us in that game. Without him, we probably aren't ACC champs. He made a few very impressive catches in critical moments... Very underrated player.

yep..not sure Ford is the blocker D. Allen is, but Ford is every bit the receiver and quite possibly a step faster as well...he will definitely present matchup problems for defenses

Gotta away with a big one there. Yes he is going to be a good one.

That's all the evidence I need.
On another note, his TD against UNC was pretty sick, too.

I always thought he stepped out, and it looks like he probably did.
However there is only 1 shot of that portion of the play on TV coverage and from the angle you can't tell if his heel is down on the line or not.
Probably so, but not nearly as definitive as the announcers made it sound.
Otherwise you are right about the ruling on the play. The catch was clearly good and was rightly upheld on replay. The only question is if he was ineligible to receive the pass due to stepping out prior to the catch, and as you said, that is not reviewable.

It is indisputable he stepped out. Even the commentators discussed it but that it would have been a penalty, not reviewable.

It's HIGHLY disputable whether or not he stepped out. There is not one iota of video evidence showing what you said you saw.
Makes one question your credibility. It's not the first time.

Apr 5, 2012, 9:54 PM

And who admitted what?
I watched the same game that everyone has. I looked at the still shot. Again, you can guess all you want whether or not Ford was out of bounds, but there is nothing that definitely shows that. If the call was a reviewable, it would have been ruled there wasn't indisputable evidence to overturn the call.
Saying you saw otherwise is hogwash. Please stop.

didn't see anything that you and I didn't. Neither did the one guy who agreed with you (i.e. not "others").
I'm also aware it's not reviewable, but the point is, if it was reviewable, there's not enough there to overturn it.
The issue here is - you say it was indisputable, and that's simply not correct.

But saying he was out of bounds in several different replays was said in error. Because it was never clearly shown. Yet again, nothing "indisputable".

While that does substantiate your "others" comment, it in no way, shape, or form amounts to anything resembling indisputable evidence.
Sorry, but your subject statement is completely denied. Noting about any of the things you've posted here shows that Ford was indisputably out of bounds.

I was looking at Brandon Ford for a while since he was wide open. I had a clear view near ground level, and his heel was in the air and never touched down on the out bounds line. He jumped back towards the ball on his toes.

Or at least on the broadcast I have on my PC it's only shown once. They did show the catch portion several times showing his toes coming down in bounds, but this pic is from the only clip they showed pre-catch.

The announcers (TV broadcast) said he stepped out
Apr 5, 2012, 3:24 PM

Granted they only showed the angle once.
Like I said it looks like he probably did step out, but without another angle to show his heel definitely out it wasn't 100%.
I place zero credence in announcers being right about anything.
But I believe we agree that we probably got a break. It happens, just like WF got a break on the spot on Boyd's run on 3rd down late. His entire body and the ball were well beyond the first down marker. But, it happens.
