Why do schools have Olympic sports??

I guess one answer and prolly the only answer I can understand is to meet Title 9 reqts.

But, that said, is there any other reason? All the AD's talk about them as money sinks. So why not get rid of most of them and focus investment on the only revenue sports, namely football and basketball.

You and I would not really know or care if Tiger baseball, soccer, golf, track, crew, etc went away tomorrow. What have we missed without a softball team all these decades?

I would notice, and I would certainly miss, many of the teams you listed

and some of the men’s and women’s soccer games. I’d probably watch some of the other sports too if they were televised. I’m not personally a track and field fan but I respect what they do, as well as the other sports. Sports and competition are great for developing the students and preparing them for the future.

Lots of kids play those sports. They’re important.

What have we missed? We’ve missed the opportunity for hundreds of SC hs girls to play their sport in college.

In which I wish Clemson would bring back wrestling.

Hundreds of thousands of student athletes around the country compete in Olympic sports and many consider it one of the cornerstone and best experiences of their lives. Those who competed in athletics in college are often done of the best in the work place after college.

It’s the culmination and peak of youth sport for 99% of athletes. The USA has the best college sports system in the world by far, athletes from around the flock to our shores to compete in collegiate sport.

You can’t seriously consider yourself a sports fan or a supporter of youth athletics/development or youth development period if you truly believe this.
