Equal failure for all is what we're experiencing today.

And, I guarantee you it will ALWAYS be done in the name of safety and security. ALWAYS. And, it will always be good for you. ALWAYS.

Hundreds and maybe thousands of jobs will be lost across collegiate sports in the years ahead. It was getting too successful and capitalistic. See above.

I bet you got a ton of invites for thanksgiving***

What is the tax rate when it no longer becomes robbery? Both sides clearly like government programs, just the money gets distributed differently. Cutting taxes without cutting spending is what will get us into trouble.

If you listen to today's socialist, there is no amount of taxation that is unreasonable. Their dogma would permit complete confiscation of all wages.

Turn the question around to one of your socialist buddies: How high can taxes be and still be considered "fair"?

Don't have a problem rendering unto Caesar.

Do you understand the context of the question Jesus was answering?

If so, please explain to me why Democratic Caesars have a problem with the second half of that quote--they don't like me rendering unto God the things that are God's? Seems to me they want both Caesar's share and God's share, both.

Yes it does, but it must come from Christ in you (spirit led)which is what he was saying there, not come from a stiff neck people, the rulers of the Jewish people who he was addressing in the statement. Just like the our government uses the same thing today to justify their worth. In other words without Christ led feeding of the poor or downtrodden, then it will not glorify the Father, no matter how good the deed may seem to be. Remember, Jesus came to earth to save mankind from himself however he came ultimately glorify the Father the head of the trinity.

The Jewish culture of the Old Testament was theocratic--leaving the corners of the field for the poor to harvest (BTW, that's work) and providing for those too sick to glean was a means by which the average citizen served God.

The New Testament was not written to rulers, but to believers who are supposed to love one another, and especially provide for the fatherless and widows.

There are also strong cautions given warning against materialism and greed, because our treasure is in heaven.

But at no point does the Bible ever 1) tell governments to redistribute wealth or the means of wealth production--that's a guaranteed method of bringing down a government; 2) discourage the profit motive (in fact, the most basic rule of agricultural prosperity is "Don't muzzle the ox that treads out the grain"); or 3) imply that caring for others is a secular responsibility. It is a means by which an individual serves God.

If Bernie Sanders or Raphael Warnocke is forcing me to give up my resources to provide for someone who has repeatedly made bad choices in life, and he is using the Bible as the basis of his power-grab, than he is making himself my priest as well as weakening the means of production.

He does not have that legal or moral authority.

Neither do you.

I don’t think that has anything to do with his point or my point. Here is what I’m saying. I read the Bible and it tells ME to provide for the poor. My personal responsibility. Some people want to use the Bible to say it’s the governments responsibility to take care of the poor. That is passing the buck. It might feel good for some to vote for policies they think is helpful to the poor. My question for them is what have you personally done to help those less fortunate? How open is your wallet? Those are questions we should all ask of ourselves.

Socialism is government owned mean of production in an economy. I'm not sure how that applies unless you are saying that since these are state schools, state governments control the production of football, therefore college football is socialist?

I have always thought of football as a socialist endeavor. Each player, regardless of size or speed, is asked to give the maximum of his talents for the good of the team. And when the team wins, each player shares equally in that victory.

Of course, this is using the term socialism in its original, economic sense and not as the political boogeyman that it has become.

Under socialism the players would equally share playing time. Minutes would be equally distributed among all players. 5 star players would play the same number of minutes as walk ons. Call Dabo and tell him this this the most “fair” way to run the football program. I hope you’re ok with some losing seasons.

Tardog.

Did you look at the attached file ? Marx said, "from each according to his abilities" Therefore the 5 star players would be expected to contribute more - which is what we expect.

"and to each according to their needs." Here is where the equality come in - in the share of the victory. I don't think TL or ETN are strutting around after the game bragging about they did it all themselves. It is a team win.

I think this is true of Clemson - every individual is striving to give 100% so that the team is successful. And the team celebrates their achievements together - equally.

This is the mindset that social democrats have. They want to help everyone to improve so that each can contribute to OUR society according to their potential abilities. And they want everyone to share more equitably in the rewards that our society creates.

Notice I did NOT say equally. Social democrats want the rewards to be spread out more fairly, but they have no illusion that every contributor will earn equal rewards. But we would like to see there be far less of a disparity among all of society's contributors.

As such, there are some places in our economy where there should be some industries where there should be some government ownership. In other industries, some government regulation is sufficient to serve the good of the whole. And there are plenty of industries where free competition serves the good of the people.

This combination of approaches is called a mixed economy - or socialism. And the vast majority of developed nations have been moving in this direction for quite some time. Communist countries are finding that free enterprise better addresses some of their markets. And capitalistic countries are finding some industries that need government regulation.

In the miuddle of those two extremes is a mixed economy - economic (and democratic) socialism.

I read the attachment and I’m well familiar with the Marx quote. It sounds nice in theory but it does not work. It has never worked. Can you name one Marxist country on earth where the lower economic class is better off than the lower class in America? It disturbs me beyond measure that the greatest country in the history of planet earth is asking for socialism. The good news for you is that I think you’re going to get your wish. The bad news for America is I think you’re going to get your wish.

Tardog,

We are already a socialist (mixed economy) country and we have been for years. Here are just a few industries that are government owned, run,or regulated:

police
fire department
highways and bridges
national defense
utilities
the public airways
Social Security
Medicare
FDIC

I would argue that the vast majority of Americans prefer that these services are provided through the government rather than by private enterprise.

So if you are worried about socialism, relax, you're soaking in it.
