Shingles in the eye update....

Shingles are starting to fade....sadly there are complications from getting it in my eye.
Nerve pain and light sensitivity is painful. My cornea has developed an ulcer. So far, the ulcer has not gotten worse. The pressure in the eye is increasing....which could mean glaucoma. Pray that everything improves and that there is no loss of vision.
Just a reminder again to get the shingles vaccine if you are over 50 years old.

Praying that the one that took a flogging for our healing would heal you completely and that your eyes would heal perfectly as our Savior is perfect so will be your healing, in the mighty Name, Amen.

So sorry to hear this and hope you will be all clear soon. I'm on a waiting list to get the shot but they seem to be out everywhere. Wonder if it's made in China???

I will feel a small victory if I can convince one person to get the vaccine.

You did convince me and my wife, she has had shingles many times and yes in her eye and I had forgotten how bad it was. She couldn’t get it before because we weren’t old enough but now we are and she needs it and I never want to take a chance.
Thank you for the reminder! ????

When I got the shot several years ago, I was told it was only fifty percent effective. I hope it is better now.

I hope things get better for you very quickly as shingles in your eye area is undoubtedly painful and terrifying.
I saw what pain my mother went through with shingles, so as soon as I could I got the original, single dose Zostavax.
Just to play it safe, I've also recently finished up with the second dose of the newer shingles vaccine Shingrix! Here's hoping...

A shingles vaccine is good for 5 years and reduces the risk by 51%. It is still worth it imo. When I am over 50 I will get for sure. Getting closer.

That is not correct. The newer Shingrex vaccine (two doses 60 days apart) is 97% effective and currently there is no guidance that follow-on dosing is needed.
Please get this vaccine if you're 50+.

I am very sorry. My son had shingles when he was in high school and it was bad. Tony La Russa had shingles in the eyes when he led the Cardinals to a world championship. He retired from managing that year. My ex-wife had it in her ear and had to have tubes, I say all this to express my feelings that I slightly understand what you are going through. God Bless.

I do understand how bad this can be. I have never been to a doctor so frequently in my life. The eye doctor wants to see me every 3 to 4 days. Every weekend he makes sure I know how to get the eye doctor on call.
Just hoping and praying for the best. I appreciate everyone's words of encouragement.

Tennessee Lady, I really feel for you. I had shingles 7 years ago. They started on my neck and spread all over my head and onto my face. I was lucky that they did not go in my eyes. I don't think I have ever been more miserable. I had shooting pains through my head that were so bad they woke me up at night. I am so sorry that you are going through this. Take care of yourself. I will pray for you. Please keep us updated.
