RIP Hammerin’ Hank

WSB Atlanta reporting that Braves great Henry Aaron has passed away at age 86. I spent many an evening as a young boy listening to the Braves radio telecast of Milo Hamilton and Ernie Johnson detailing Hanks exploits at the plate. What a rags to riches story!

Based on everything he had to endure and all he managed to accomplish/achieve, I firmly believe he is one of the greatest players, if not the greatest, in MLB history.

And just a few months ago it was Gibson, Ford, Seaver, and Morgan. Now Sutton and Aaron. All HOFer's.

He, indeed, was a legend. I can remember the image of him rounding second base and an idiot out of the stands grabbed his arm and he just jerked it away. This was when he set the record.

If there was ever a true G.O.A.T. in sports it's the HAMMER!

I'll put his stats up against Jordan for what & when he accomplished all that he did. I still have a poster framed up of his jog around the bases with the 2 goofballs from Georgia Tech that ran out onto the field to congratulate him.

My favorite baseball player of all time. I always wanted to meet him. Man I hope I get to shake his hand in heaven. What a game they must be having up there now.

I was fortunate to listen to his games, watch some on TV, and attended at least 50 in person. I witnessed a lot of his HRs, including the one breaking Babe Ruth's record (on TV). Lots of fond memories of Hammerin' Hank.
I have one of his rookie baseball cards, a 1954 Topps, and I've had it since the mid 1950s.
