RIP CFB 1.0: 1869 -2019

It's over folks..
Something will rise from the ashes of Covid, NIL and BLM, but I expect CFB 2.0 will be very unpleasant.. here are some likely happenings:
- teams will divide and tribe over uneven NIL contracts - unhappy players will force HC's or position coaches to resign for valid and invalid reasons, e.g. uneven discipline, whatever - platform players wanting to force a given issue may cause the team to boycott a given big game - entire teams may boycott an undesired bowl game
Net, I hope I'm wrong, but I think the NCAA and conferences have lost control of the players, and hence the sport. Ultimately the money just got too big, everybody got to greedy and the house collapsed.

Well, it’s for certain College HC’s are overpaid..

including our beloved Dabo, bless his heart..but at least he & his wife are using it to give back.
Still, the point is salaries of coaches, professional players & etc are just unreal (screww the notion they deserve it or earn it; it’s the greedy owners giving out these salaries willy-nilly since you & I are hijacked at the ticket office & become their banks).
Now, as you stated the best college players will be paid for their image, etc..and the locker room is gonna be divided as is the huddle.
And, what with head injuries being a major thorn in the rough play that the crowd likes..
I too see college football being cut down to size sooner than later.

The money and extracurricular stuff ended up being too much for me.

It’s not the owners greed that did it in. Supply and demand created that. But then they shoved it in my face. Contract disputes, players sitting out. Tanking to get traded. Other causes getting in the way of the pure joy of sport. I turned it off. I literally never watch NFL unless it’s someone else’s decision.
College is getting closer to that. Transfer portals, NIL rights, agents, players sitting out Bowl games. It’s only going to worse. It’s not about their right to do it, but it’s not as enjoyable. The joy of sport is diminished.

There will be football this season. The number of players who are there just to be disruptive is a very small percentage of the players and they can easily be dismissed in August.

How about kidnapping and murder?

The likely next steps of your scenario ... could play out like this.
The star QB who is soon to make big time NFL bucks makes $2 mil from Nike for NIL. He invites only his Offensive buds to his fabulous groupie-filled pool parties at his rented mansion in The Reserve. The Defense is wrecked about it and kidnaps him before the big game with a ransom note to the HC and school president who are about to lose tens of millions without the QB in the game. Meanwhile, the TE has not been getting the rock after dropping a few balls, and why should the O-line get cases of Dom Perignon from the QB and not him? He's on the O-line. He blocks hard, and now he feels disrespected. And there are other players with grudges. Could murder be afoot? Thanks for the warnings. Go Tigers!

I prefer an optimistic point of view. If CFB does radically change, I will deal with it, but not until then.
