Sorry if this has already been discussed. Hypothetically, what if Clemson were to finish 7-1 in the ACC and Miami were to finish 8-1?

Head to head gives clemson the nod as long as

Clemson played within 1 game of the avg games played within the conference.
So, if Clemson does not play FSU, and finishes at 8-1 and Miami finishes at 9-1 then Clemson would FOR SURE win the head to head against Miami.
If Miami finishes at 9-1 and Clemson finishes at 7-1 (we don't play FSU or VT for example) then I'm not sure what would happen.
It depeneds on the AVG number of ACC games played. If that number is 9, then Clemson at 7-1 would get the nod over Miami because it is within 1 game of the avg.
If the AVG number of ACC games played is 9.5, then I think Miami would for sure get the nod. If the AVG number is 9.25, I don't know how the rounding works.

ok, thanks for that explanation. I think as long as it's not based solely on league winning percentage we'll be ok. I was hoping they had some kind of provisions in place this year for situations like this. It would be ridiculous to curb stomp Miami and then lose a tie breaker because one of our opponents decided they just didn't want to play us.

I'll correct your last sentence. "It would be ridiculous to curb stomp Miami and then lose a tie breaker because Florida State just didn't want to play us."

they would then be dropping 1 game as we would be dropping 1 game. So if we have the same record in conference then how could they have a chance at being in the championship game over Clemson? So they couldn't be 9-1 and us 8-1. Unless they moved the ACCCG to another date.
