I don’t remember it as I was elementary age, but I do know it couldn’t have been WYFF. In those days it would’ve been WFBC as the station didn’t change it’s call letters to WYFF until years later.

I remember that and I seem to remember it was against UNC and it was on the Asheville station WLOS. That was so funny!

I think it was WFBC back in those days. They changed to WYFF around 83 or 84. I was thinking it was WLOS too but not sure.

It was WFBC back then and I could not remember which station it was on but back then we always watch WFBC. I am not sure when they changed to WYFF but remember Annette Estes getting fired for say the F word and the joke was the call letters meant (We are your Fing Friend) she had been there for 4 yrs after transferring from WSPA.

Yep. It was actually WLOS 13 as I recall. Was pretty funny. Us Clemson fans were thinking “what the heck does ABC have against us?” Since this was the same station that dropped the Jim Lampley bomb at halftime of Penn St/Pitt.

Thanks for clearing that up. We only had 3 station back then and I did not get cable until 1985
