Who is your favorite (non DW-4) player of all time
Jul 30, 2017, 10:05 AM
|
|
From an attitude and effort, not necessarily on-field productivity, standpoint? In other words, what current or former player would you choose as a coach or role model for your child? Character, attitude, effort, vision guys.
Only excluding DW4 because I would like to see some varied answers.
I posted about Hunter Renfro earlier. Others I would consider from various eras are Artavis Scott, Tony Steward, Rodney Williams, Brian Dawkins and CJ.

How about an "All Clemson man" team
Jul 30, 2017, 10:10 AM

All factors described above, plus holds a Clemson degree. Stats and winning % a plus, but not a criterion. DW4 eligible for team, although in my view not a lock at QB.

No slight against Sammy, because I may be his greatest fan, but I thought there were better choices given the stated criteria.
Proud Sammy is a Clemson Tiger, and proud to have him representing our school.

With this criteria in mind "coach or role model" I would have to put in a vote for Adam Humphries. His approach, demeanor, work ethic, and attitude were outstanding. On the field success is just a plus.
I would also think that Dwayne Allen is a solid choice. No off the field issues that I recall. Humble, and just a baller. Prior to trading him to the Patriots, the Colts used him as the face of their organization for alot of their local marketing campaigns.
I think a huge majority of folks will lean towards CJ, and it's a solid choice.

Excellent choice. I am embarrassed because I am a HUGE Bucs fan, and the way he went about fighting to make the team makes him a perfect example of what I was looking for.

Terry Allen! He was not the most highly recruited, not the fastest, biggest..... But every time he put on that paw, you got his all. The heart of a champion, that's why he will always be a special Tiger to me!

Thought about TA

There are a number of RBs to consider, and he did have some controversy a couple of years ago (not sure what the outcome of that was). Again, no slight against Terry, I would have him on my team any day, but I thought there were better choices.
I guess the young guys have a great advantage here, because they are fresher in our minds and have lived half as long, so have had a greater opportunity to avoid adversity.
Good choice. He was a hero of mine as a younger man.

I am now somewhat regretting starting this thread. It was intended to "accentuate the positive", but I can see now that it lends itself to doing exactly the opposite.
The last thing I want to do is respond to why some of Clemson's greatest might not be the best examples.

plus a solid citizen, great family man, and is still doing great things for Clemson.
Also love me some Perry Tuttle for similar reasons.

Christian Wilkins will be up there too by the time he leaves.
Stephone Anthony was also a really hard worker and a good teammate
I would even include Tajh and some of the unsung OL we have had lately like Tyler Shatley and Eric MacLain

I'm gonna say CJ. He was an amazing talent that really kinda spring boarded out florida rexruiting. On top of that he is a very high character guy and has been a great ambassador for clemson. Imo, this all started from dabo and cj. Look where we are now!

Never looked for the limelight, just ran hard every #### play.
Gained yards when he shouldn't have more than any back I can remember.
Yeah, I'm might change my mind after this season's memory fades a little.
But today, the Wayne Train is my man. Most underappreciated man on our championship team. If all the team played with his heart and attitude no team would have even come close to us last year.
